A Letter from the Presidents
It is our absolute pleasure to welcome you to Mu Beta Lambda Business Fraternity, Inc.! We are Kofi Bugyei and Poorna Chatterjee, and we have the honor of serving as Co-Presidents for the 2026 –2027 academic year.
When we first arrived at Indiana University, we were two ambitious students trying to find our place on a campus that felt both exciting and overwhelming. Like many freshmen, we were searching for direction, a community that felt like home, people who understood our experiences, and opportunities that would push us to grow. What we didn’t realize then was that Mu Beta Lambda would become all of that and more.
From the moment we stepped into this organization, we were surrounded by driven, talented minority leaders who were committed not only to their own success, but to uplifting the people around them. MBL quickly became a place where we found lifelong friends, mentors who challenged us, and a kinship that supported us through every high and low of our college journey.
Serving on the Executive Board as Treasurer and Secretary the year before stepping into the role of Co‑Presidents gave us a deeper appreciation for what this fraternity truly represents. We learned firsthand how much intention, discipline, and heart it takes to build something meaningful. Skills from leadership and communication to financial management and organizational strategy are lessons we’ll carry far beyond our time at IU. They’re tangible, real‑world skills that have shaped us into stronger students, professionals, and people.
Now, as Co‑Presidents, we’re committed to giving back what Mu Beta Lambda gave to us. Our goal is to ensure that every member feels the same sense of belonging, support, and empowerment that transformed our own college experience. We want MBL to continue being a space where students discover their potential, build lifelong relationships, and gain the tools they need to thrive in the professional world.
This fraternity has shaped who we are and it’s our privilege to help shape its future.
This year, our vision is to continue building on the strong foundation laid by those who came before us. We will work alongside our executive board and members to strengthen our internal culture, expand our impact, and uphold the six pillars that define who we are: Kinship, Diversity & Culture, Professionalism, Scholarship, Community Service, and Sustainability.
Founded in 2012 by nine visionaries, Mu Beta Lambda remains the nation's first and only minority-based business fraternity, a revolutionary organization built to empower the next generation of business leaders. Our members continue to secure competitive internships, on-campus leadership roles, and full-time job offers with top companies before graduation. Our work isn’t just about today. It’s about shaping a path that others can follow and strengthening the legacy of those who came before us.
